Research Papers And Other Forms Of Academic Writing

Research papers are pieces of academic writing which requires the presence of an analytical approach and are typically a part of most university and higher college syllabus.

Students write research papers based on research work they carry out, and present their thoughts, views and inferences based on the situation or circumstance.

The first step for a student to write such a paper is to read up and study books, journals, and editorials in encyclopedias and magazines to familiarize themselves with the topic chosen. The students can chose a topic they are interested in and a topic they can find information on in a local or college library.

Such sources of information provide the student with a baseline of their article as well as bring them up to speed with the scenario. The writing style is typically argumentative and the objective is to prove a point through reasoning with documented references for facts and figures.

Essay writing is another popular form of academic writing and is widely used. Essays cover a wide range of topics from literary review to political and social views. Academic essays are typically two to five hundred words long, and compromise of five paragraphs. The first paragraph is the introduction which preludes the next two paragraphs and briefs the reader about their content.

The body consumes the net two paragraphs which contain the main matter being covered and is followed by the conclusion which informs the reader of the writers conclusion and inference on the said topic. Essays are often written to suit the topic and the target audience.
